Giocondo a noble wife of Florence, Italy. Lisa has a maiden name, Lisa
Gherardini is a member of the Gherardini family which is a noble family of
Florence. Lisa then married Francesco Giacondo, a wealthy silk businessman in
Florence. Francesco Giacondo was an art collector and he loved his wife, so
Francesco asked Da Vinci to paint his beloved wife. Unexpectedly this painting
order became the most famous painting of Da Vinci. This painting was then
purchased by King François I of France, even after the French Revolution this
painting remained in France. The painting is housed in the Louvre Museum and is
in the national collection of the government of the French Republic.
