Enkidu Meets Salvador Dali - Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening (1941)
Description
The painting is entitled Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening. This painting of Salvador Dali has a fairly long title if you say his other works, this painting was made by Dali in 1941. This painting is a dream of Gala Dali, his beloved wife Salvador Dali which he later tried to paint. In this painting the events that his wife experienced in a dream, in her dream Gala witnessed a rocksnapper fish emerging from a pomegranate. Then the fish took out two tigers who tried to pounce on Gala. Then a bee appeared trying to sting Gala and Gala woke up from this dream. In this painting, a bee is depicted by Dali in the form of a bayonet stabbing into his wife's arm. This Dali did to show how deep the bee's sting was, as painful as a bayonet stab. Another symbolization is added by Dali by adding the statue of the Elephant and the Obelisk, by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in this painting as an addition to his surreal imagination. This painting is clearly the influence of Freud's thought on Dali, which he tried to express in his art.
