Description
This
painting is entitled Roots which was made in 1943. In this painting Frida Kahlo
depicts herself giving birth to the roots of a tree. From Frida's stomach came
the branches to the leaves. Frida didn't realize that she couldn't give birth
to a child after an accident that had lasted almost her entire life. So she
dreams that she can become a mother and have children, but relies heavily on
Frida herself knowing that her dream will not come true. Then Frida tried to
describe her dream in her painting. Where Frida imitates Christ's sacrifice by
depicting himself by flowing his circulating blood through the plants that come
out of his stomach.
