Enkidu Meets Salvador Dali - The Burning Giraffe (1937)
Description
This painting was created in 1937 by Salvador Dali under the title The Burning Giraffe. Like Dali's other paintings, this painting is also influenced by Freud's theory of the human subconscious. Salvador Dali himself was an admirer of Sigmund Freud and many of his paintings were influenced by his thoughts. This painting is the same, but it is different from his other paintings. This painting depicts a very deep bitterness, in Dali's subconscious because his country was devastated by the Spanish Civil War (1937-1939). Dali himself explained the meaning of this painting and described a burning giraffe, as the masculine cosmic apocalyptic monster.
