Gilgamesh Meets Vincent Van Gogh - The Potato Eaters (1885)
Painting The Potato Eaters made in 1885. Often considered to be Van Gogh's first masterpiece. Painted while living among farmers and laborers in Nuenen in the Netherlands, Van Gogh strives to portray people and their lives honestly. Vincent Van Gogh shows the living conditions of the less prosperous farmers in dark colors. This painting is a real sign for us, that the life of farmers who can only eat potatoes is so difficult to survive and live their lives.
