Shamhat Meets Leonardo Da Vinci - Vitruvian Man (1490)
Description
This painting is entitled Vitruvian Man, made by Leonardo da Vinci in 1490. This painting is a sketch of the human body according to Marcus Vitruvius Pollio. Vitruvius was a Roman scholar and engineer who wrote a magnum opus, the book De Architectura that made him the "Father of Architecture." Vitruvius also designed a number of war equipment such as ballistas and scorpions for Julius Caesar's troops. The book De Architectura became the basis for the architecture of Roman buildings, until now there are still many Roman buildings that stand strong, one of which is the Colosseum in Italy. Da Vinci read the book De Architectura and saw the human sketches drawn by Vitruvius in the book, so he was inspired and made human sketches like those made by Vitruvius.
