Description

The painting entitled Girl Before a Mirror was created by Picasso in 1932. This painting is Picasso's masterpiece taken from Picasso's mistress, Marie-Thérèse Walter. This painting was painted in the same year as Le Rêve's painting and both use the same model, Marie-Thérèse Walter. Like Picasso's other cubist works, this work uses cubic shapes and distinctive geometric shapes. In this painting depicts a woman who looks in the mirror, then sees a different face. The colorful visuals are quickly subdued by the scene depiction of a woman revealing into the shadows and distorted abyss of her future self, fearful of the inevitable that is bound to come. The painting depicts the appearance of a woman looking at herself in a mirror and seeing a different view. In the mirror the woman saw a face that looked old and weathered with age, she looked at the different face with fear while realizing that aging was inevitable.
