After being released from detention on Buru Island everything has changed, many people who knew him have died as victims of the anti-PKI genocide. His wife left him and married another man, and some of his children died. Living isolated from society, Karman realized that he had done wrong to the people who had been hurt by his attitude during his time as a PKI cadre. Karman bore the grave sin of history and he could barely bear it. But in the midst of a life that is almost closed to him, Karman can still find a ray of love.
