Shamash meets Andy Warhol - Banana (1967)
Description
This
painting is titled Banana (1967) which was created by Andy Warhol in 1967. In
the 1960s Andy Warhol was associated with the band "The Velvet
Undergound" because he was the band's manager. This banana painting is not
just any banana painting, this banana picture is the cover of the band's first
album, The Velvet Underground & Nico (1967) which was released on March 12,
1967. Of course we can conclude that the picture on the cover of this album is
the work of the manager of The Velvet Underground, Andy Warhol. The album was
at its time called the "most prophetic rock album ever made" and
became the 13th best music album of all time according to Rolling Stone
magazine. Warhol's role in giving a touch of pop art to music has made Warhol's
Banana painting one of the most influential pop art works in the world.
