Bull of Heaven Meets Pierre-Auguste Renoir - The Bathers (1918 - 1919)
Description
This
painting is entitled Les Baigneuses or The Bathers which was made
by Pierre-Auguste Renoir in 1918 – 1919. In this painting Renoir paints two
women, one of the models is Andrée Hessling, who was the first wife of his son
Renoir, Jean Renoir who was a director legendary in French history. Renoir in
this painting paints his son-in-law with a touch of his signature
impressionism. Of course this work was also inspired by French painters,
Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino or commonly known
as Raphael, an Italian painter from the Renaissance. Renoir himself was so
proud of this painting that he once said that he considered it a magnum opus
and that he worked hard to complete this work.
